11/96 – Present Musical Theater, Video Production, Puppetry and Drama Instructor – My classes range from teaching; puppetry, acting, video production and musical theater. I am also Director to the center’s Multi Cultural Theater Project called “Stagekids”s at PS 8 MMCC Beacon Program. Other assignments have included and include teaching at the following neighborhood public schools in the Bronx: PS 7, PS 8, PS 95, PS 20, MS 80 and the Bronx New School. Also, coordinate all showcases performances for all above performing arts programs including the Summer Arts & Science Camp which I was Director. I am was also responsible for implementing and coordinating a neighborhood Arts Jam (Bronx Artists Collective). The project was the beginning of an in-house visual, performing and art exhibit that showcase's local talent from within the community.
06/96 - 10/96 Teenwise Program Director - Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club. Co-op City, Bronx, NY Supervised and prepared Teenwise youth staff, ages 13 to 19 to implement youth programs and activities of their own design. Supervise overall operations of Teenwise program at sites located at Truman High School, section #1 and #5 in Co-op City. Also taught Theater Arts (dance & drama) to After School Program and Summer Day Camp participates.
10/94 - 09/95 Community Achievement Project in the Schools (CAPS) Coordinator - Bd. of Ed/District #9, CES 104, Bronx, NY Coordinated a joint dropout prevention and attendance improvement program. Worked with the New York City Mission Society and the United Way. The program helped to provide a range of services to assist children most at risk of dropping out of school. Thus, linking academic and social systems, helping them with personal, family and social problems that often result in poor grades and attendance. Supervised a staff of five (5) home-work assistance’s and cultural/recreation specialist.
05/94 - 09/95 Cultural/Performing Arts Director - (Promotion) New York City Mission Society Cadet Corps, Bronx, NY Worked under general direction from the executive Director with considerable latitude for independent initiative. Was responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Performing Arts Program. Specific planning included implementation of cultural arts activities; dance, drama, fencing, and arts & crafts. Also responsible for supervision of program staff (specialist) and in-house adult profession dance company. Was responsible for bridging gap between Cadets Corps, family and school. 94 -95 Summer Day Camp, Dean of Cultural Arts.
05/94 - 12/94 YSP Coordinator (Youth Salvation Project) - New York City Mission Society Cadet Corps, Bronx, NY Was responsible for planning, implementation and evaluation of the YSP. Also responsible for bridging gap between the Cadet Corps, school and family. Program was designed to provide 50 low-income, disproportionately high risk 11 to 14 year olds with a range of physical activities and academic/career planning seminars that build self-esteem and leadership skills during their tender years.
06/92 - 05/94 Cultural Arts Director/Theater Specialist - Mosholu-Montefiore Cultural Center, Bronx, NY Responsible for coordinating and developing the Summer Arts Programs. Classes included: ceramics, pottery, photography, creative writing, multi-media arts and dance and drama. Taught dance, drama and video production during school season. Produced and directed performances.
03/88 - 05/91 Director - (Promotion) N.Y.C.H.A., Dept. of Social & Community Services. Highbridge Community Center, Bronx, NY Responsible for overall operation and administration that includes; program implementation, evaluation of program staff, volunteers and summer youth workers. Prepared proposals and raised funds for the educational and performing arts components. Also responsible for the summer day camp program.
